How to update your social network via mobile device

It is not easy to keep up with every social network out there, especially if you're doing your own social network marketing. The following is a compilation of different methods you can use to update Facebook, Twitter and others via mobile device.

1) Invest in a smartphone

Most smartphones now come with the ability to download apps for your favorite social networks, which makes it easier for you to send updates on the go. Just think of the possibilities! You can send live updates from any event and location, even when you're on vacation.

Some of our favorite smartphones:

iPhone 3G S (Apple OS)
You can download apps for Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, LinkedIn, and many others from the App Store at no cost!

Droid (Android)
Android has its own app store and it's called Android Market. It is similar to the App Store as you can easily download apps for many social networks at no cost.

HTC Hero (Android)
The Hero has the ability to hold information for many social networks on a multi-screen format, making it super easy to navigate and update any status. You can also download the apps from the Android Market at no cost.

HTC Touch Pro2 (Windows)
The Windows powered Touch Pro2 is a powerful business communications tool. The full slide-out keyboard makes it easy and fun to keep your social networks updated.  Windows powered smartphones also have a Marketplace where you can download your social network's apps at no cost.

Samsung Omnia II (Windows)
Another Windows powered smartphone with access to the Marketplace for downloading your social network's apps at no cost. The Omnia II has a nice large display.

BlackBerry Curve 8500 (BlackBerry)
For the BlackBerry lovers out there, you can download apps from BlackBerry App World. All your favorite social networks have apps available at no cost.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 (BlackBerry)
Just like the Curve 8500, the Bold 9700 has access to BlackBerry App World. This smartphone is a powerhouse for business use.


2) Use SMS (texting) update social networks on your regular cellphone

Most online social networks out there give you a instructions for receiving updates and sending updates and even photos to your status by texting. All you have to do is sign up at each of your accounts. The following is a list of the most common social networks and where to find the instructions:

Facebook

Log in to your account and under "Account" (top right) click "Account Settings", then click the "Mobile" tab. Once you register, you'll be on your way to easy updates anywhere you go.

MySpace

After you log in to your account, click "My Account" (top right) and then click "Mobile". Follow the instructions to activate your phone for mobile updates.

Twitter

Log in to Twitter, click "Settings" (top) and click "Mobile". Fill in your information and read the detailed guide on the right column for sending your updates to Twitter.

LinkedIn

Although you can't update your LinkedIn status via text, you can automatically sync your Twitter updates to your LinkedIn updates. To do this, once you're logged in to your account, click "Settings" (top right). Under "Profile Settings" click "Twitter Settings" and follow the instructions.

3) Use a micro-blogging service

If you're not familiar with Ping.fm and HelloTxt , your life is about to get better! These micro-blogging services can be set up to sync all your online social networks and send updates via text. The only downside is you'll have the same update across your social network spectrum, but still it's a great tool! Here are our favorites:

Similar to HelloTxt, Ping.fm also syncs all your social network updates. Sign up at
